What I Do
Advertising
With a background in photography and videography, I came to SCAD with a copywriter's heart and an art director's penchant for moustaches and dark ales.
In undergrad I was selected to join the SCAD National Student Advertising Competition team. We were exposed to all aspects of the business (yes, I even led the development of a media plan). With the Century Council as a client and curbing college binge drinking as their goal, it gave our team a chance for true 360° creative exploration. Not only that, but I found I thrived in corralling and leading a group of creative minds.
Soon after, I started my graduate studies, which led me deeper into my writing and creative decision-making. At this time I began freelancing as a copywriter/creative director -- starting strong with clients like BP.
In 2009 I got the chance to work for JCB through a collaborative graduate venture set up between SCAD and the construction giant JCB. Again, working for such a large client gave me the experience of pitching concepts and research. Working with other graduate students from the majors of Industrial Design and Graphic Design gave me a respect for collaboration.
Non-Advertising
As important as it is to know advertising backwards, forwards, and upside-down, I believe it is just as important to have experiences outside of advertising.
Odd skills I've collected:
............. Stage/screen acting
............. Landscape installing
............. Welding
............. Professional photographing
............. Video Editing
............. Proofreading
............. Architectural drawing
............. Residential cleaning
............. Tile laying
............. Home fixture installing
............. Guest instructing
............. Residential demolishing
............. Wilderness surviving (seriously)
............. Debris removing
............. Floor re-doing
............. Cookie baking
............. Geocaching
